5 Simple Golf Tips

5 Simple Golf Tips

We all want to play better golf. With these five simple golf tips you can improve your game drastically with just a little focus and sticking to the process.

1.     How to Properly Align the Clubface

One of the most common mistakes amateurs make is improper alignment. Start by taking a good look at your target from behind the ball; this will provide you with perspective of the entire hole and aim where you want to take the ball. Next, set the clubface behind the golf ball and then align it directly at the target.

After assessing the ball, situate the rest of your body. Your body and feet will be aiming left of the target line. You should experiment with what works best for you but no matter what, align that clubface beforehand.

2.     Choosing the Right Club

Most players will simply look at a yardage and choose the club that they hit that yardage. Tour pros look into all the elements. Including lie angle, pin position, wind, and even the direction the grass is in. Choosing the right club includes things like natural shot tendencies, wind, hazards and hidden dangers.

3.     Simplify your Stance

One of the most common mistakes is that you might assume that the stance changes, depending on the club. However, the best way to go is to maintain a consistent stance especially when it comes to full shots.

4.     Grip Technique

With your gloved hand grip the club and emphasize the handle’s placement using the fingers between the first knuckle and the palm. Your ungloved hand should be around the handle. The thumb and index fingers of both hands should form two Vs, and these should be pointed in an area around the right side of your chest or along the right shoulder. This advice could be hard at first but later on would prove worthwhile as you improve your grip.

5.     Play With the Wind, Not Against It

Every good player knows that he must use the wind to his advantage. It is useless to play against the wind. No matter what type of shot whether it’s a draw, fade, etc. how the wind blows changes the results. Make slight adjustments to make the wind work for you, instead of hitting a shot fighting it. Just accept the fact that wind is blowing and although it could be in an undesirable direction, playing against it will only make it harder for you.
